Annie Patterson
Annie Patterson studied illustration, design and typography at Cambridge and Kingston Schools of Art and continues to work as a Graphic Designer and Botanical Artist. In 2002 she completed a two year Diploma in Botanical Painting course at the Chelsea Physic Gardens. She studied under the renowned tutor Anne Marie Evans and managed to combine her fascination with plants and painting. With a long career in design and a fascination for plants, Annie uses her skills to observe and paint finely detailed yet strong images of botanical subjects and with her use of light and shade she manages to bring each plant to life. She paints in watercolour on paper and vellum, matching the colours and capturing the habit and unique characteristics of each plant. Subjects include delicate flowers, intricate seeds, exotic fruit and vegetables from her own garden and conservatory. Annie has exhibited at the Chelsea Arts Society Summer Show, winning the Mary Grobb Award. She can be seen at the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew, Hampton Court Palace and exhibits in private and public collections throughout Europe and the USA. |
